Artist Statement – Bettie Eubanks

The body of work that has become my life’s passion tells my story as a wife, a mother, a daughter, a friend, a child of God and a student of life; simply sketching, painting, and building our human story in art form. My gift as an artist allows me to transfer what I see and feel to canvas, expressing just a bit more of myself.  I paint to express vitality, natural beauty, and joy through vibrant color and texture.

At the age of ten, I was recognized as a gifted artist, and I was invited to attend The Newark School of Fine Arts every Saturday for 3 years, From the beginning, Art has brought me joy.  The fun and training continued through high school where I excelled and was awarded a full art scholarship to Parsons College.  As my art talent matured, the fun began to translate into many pieces of art.

Over the years, I have successfully exhibited my paintings in Martha’s Vineyard, Atlanta, and Florida.  My paintings hang in many private as well as corporate collections.  Recently, a gallery featured a retrospective exhibit showing 30 paintings created over thirty years of work.  My work has also been recognized by the Governor of Florida.

Sharing the joy of art is also my opportunity to give back to our community.  I have taught classes for young children and adults, and judged Art Shows.  I helped create Solace by the Sea for Corporate women and participate in a healing practice, Art at the Bedside, with The Mayo Clinic.

Our days are a constant infusion of information and experiences.  Art allows me to express the joy and possibility in daily life and share it with everyone that views my work or sits alongside me creating in a class or a hospital.  My art provides me a way to express peace and joy.

I thank God for all the many Blessings I have been given and continue to create.
